Tokyo Family Hotels with a Kitchenette (2026)

Which Tokyo hotel rooms have a kitchen you can actually cook in — and, the part nobody publishes, which of those also have a washing machine in the same room. Most large family rooms in Tokyo give you one or the other. Equipment, room sizes and occupancy below come from each hotel’s own website.

How this list was made. We read the room pages of every hotel here in September 2026 and list only what they state: the kitchen equipment by name, whether the room has a washer, floor area and maximum occupancy. A hotel is only in the table if its official site states the kitchen facilities and the occupancy — several well-known Tokyo serviced apartments say a kitchen is in “selected room types” without saying which, and those are named at the bottom rather than guessed at. Prices are deliberately not listed because they change daily; the “See rates” links open the hotel’s page on Trip.com so you can check current dates.

MONday Apart: the only rooms for six or seven with both

An apartment-hotel brand with fifteen Tokyo properties, of which we checked four. Every room type at all four has an IH cooktop, fridge, microwave and cookware and a washing machine with a dryer — that combination in a room for six or seven does not otherwise exist in this guide.

Premium MONday ASAKUSA I is two minutes from Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express: the One Bedroom Grand Suite and the 1-Bedroom Grand Japanese Suite are both 47.29 m² for 7, the 1-Bedroom Deluxe Family Suite 46.04 m² for 6, and the Junior Suite 42.51 m² for 6. MONday Apart Premium UENO is about six minutes from Iriya Station and runs from a 30 m² Standard Family for 4 up to the 61.24 m² Parkside Suite for 6. MONday Apart Premium NIHOMBASHI (two minutes from Shin-Nihombashi) tops out at the 45.25 m² Grand Japanese for 6, and MONday Apart Premium GINZA SHINTOMICHO (one minute from Shintomicho) at the 45.25 m² Grand Japanese for 5. Tokyu Stay: a kitchenette and a washer in a normal hotel room

Tokyu Stay is a conventional hotel chain built around in-room laundry, which makes it the simplest option for a family of three or four who do not want an apartment. At Tokyu Stay Shibuya every room type has both a kitchenette and a washer-dryer: the Residential Family Bunk Bed is 47 m² for 6, the Residential Family 40 m² for 4 and the Deluxe Twin 30 m² for 3. At Tokyu Stay Shinjuku the Signature Family (47 m², 4), the 3chome Collective TWIN (39 m², 4) and the Deluxe Twin (30 m², 3) have a kitchenette; the smaller Superior Queen and Deluxe King have the washer but the page does not list a kitchenette for them. Oakwood: the only dishwashers

If “kitchen” means something closer to home, the Oakwood serviced apartments are the ones with a dishwasher. Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown has direct underground access from Roppongi Station exit 8 and states a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and an in-room washer-dryer in every unit, from the 42 m² Studio Deluxe up to the Three-Bedroom Executive (133 m², 6). Oakwood Premier Tokyo, by Tokyo Station, adds an oven to the same list; its 3 Bedroom Executive is 110 m² for 6. Both are priced as serviced apartments rather than hotels, which is the trade-off. MIMARU: a kitchen everywhere, a washer almost nowhere

MIMARU is the widest choice in Tokyo — fifteen properties across Asakusa, Ueno, Tokyo Station, Ginza, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Akasaka and Kinshicho — and every single room has a kitchen: IH stove, fridge, microwave, kettle, pots, pans, knife and tableware. The catch, and the reason this page exists, is laundry. Across all fifteen properties the in-room washer-dryer appears in only four room types: the Two-Bedroom Japanese Suite at MIMARU SUITES Tokyo Asakusa (74 m², 6 adults + 2 children), the Two-Bedroom Family Suite at MIMARU SUITES Tokyo Nihombashi (57–59 m², 6 + 2), the Two-Bedroom Family Suite at MIMARU Tokyo Ikebukuro (58 m², 6 + 2) and the Two-Bedroom at MIMARU Tokyo Station East (53 m², 6 + 2). Everywhere else you use the coin laundry. If you need more beds than that, MIMARU is still the answer — its connecting apartments take 8 adults plus 4 children and MIMARU Tokyo Ueno Inaricho rents three rooms as a floor for 12 — but plan for coin laundry. What to check on the booking page

The room name decides it, not the hotel. At Tokyu Stay and at MIMARU the kitchen or the washer is attached to specific room types. Two rooms in the same building can differ.
“Kitchenette” is not always a stove. Tokyu Stay states that the electric cooker is only in rooms that have a kitchenette; everywhere a microwave is standard. If you intend to cook rather than reheat, book a room whose page names a stove or IH cooktop.
Kitchen and washer rarely scale together. Above six people the choice narrows to Premium MONday ASAKUSA I; above that you are into MIMARU’s connecting apartments, which have neither an in-room washer nor a second kitchen.
Cookware is not guaranteed by the word “kitchen”. MIMARU and MONday Apart both list pots, pans and tableware explicitly. Where a page does not, assume you are buying a pan at the 100-yen shop.

Checked, but not in the table

These are on most “Tokyo hotels with a kitchen” lists, and we left them out on purpose. Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo and Citadines North Shinjuku Tokyo state that “selected room types include a kitchen and washer-dryer” without saying which types, so we cannot tell you what you would be booking. Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo says “many apartments feature modern kitchens” with the same problem. lyf Ginza Tokyo and lyf Shibuya Tokyo have a shared Social Kitchen and a launderette, not a kitchen in the room. Tokyu Stay Ginza and Tokyu Stay Tsukiji do have kitchenette rooms, but they take two people. Fraser Suites Akasaka describes kitchenettes, but its official site was unreachable when we checked, so occupancy is unverified. If any of these publishes per-room detail later we will add them.

Stocking the kitchen once you arrive? Families cooking in Tokyo usually add a private airport transfer with child seats on request for the arrival day (a supermarket run is easier when you are not carrying suitcases up stairs), a luggage-storage drop for the gap between check-out and a late flight, and kid-friendly tickets and activities on Klook. This is the question that actually separates them, because most large apartment rooms give you one or the other. Every room at the four MONday Apart properties in this guide has both, as does every room type at Tokyu Stay Shibuya and Tokyu Stay Shinjuku, and every apartment at Oakwood Premier Tokyo and Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown. At MIMARU the kitchen is in every room but the in-room washer-dryer is only in four room types across the fifteen Tokyo properties — everywhere else it is coin laundry.

What is the difference between a kitchen and a kitchenette here?

We use the word each hotel uses. MIMARU, MONday Apart and Oakwood say “kitchen” and list the equipment: a stove or IH cooktop you can actually cook on, plus cookware. Tokyu Stay says “kitchenette” and pairs it with a microwave; the electric cooker is only in rooms equipped with a kitchenette, so check the room name rather than the hotel. If you plan to boil pasta and wash bottles nightly, the apartment-hotel kitchens are the safer booking.

Can a big family get a kitchen and a washer in one room?

Yes, and the largest is Premium MONday ASAKUSA I: its One Bedroom Grand Suite is 47.29 m² for 7 people with an IH kitchen and a washing machine in the room. MONday Apart Premium UENO's Parkside Suite takes 6 at 61.24 m², Tokyu Stay Shibuya's Residential Family Bunk Bed takes 6 at 47 m², and Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown's three-bedroom apartments take 6 at 127–133 m². MIMARU's connecting apartments hold more people still — up to 8 adults plus 4 children — but none of them has an in-room washer.

Do you need a kitchen for a short Tokyo trip?

For a stay under a week with children who eat what is put in front of them, no — Tokyo makes eating out with kids easy. It changes with a baby on formula or purées, a toddler who eats at 5pm, or a food allergy: being able to boil water, heat rice from the convenience store and wash bottles turns the evening into a routine rather than a negotiation. Where in Tokyo should a family book a room with a kitchen?

Asakusa and Ueno have the most of them and the flattest streets for a stroller — Premium MONday ASAKUSA I, MONday Apart Premium UENO and six MIMARU properties are within that area. Nihombashi and Shintomicho put you a few minutes from Tokyo Station for Shinkansen day trips. Shibuya and Shinjuku are the Yamanote-line options if the trip is city-centred, and are where Tokyu Stay's kitchenette-and-washer rooms are. Roppongi and Marunouchi are where the full serviced-apartment kitchens are, at Oakwood.
